People often ask me why I decided to go into aesthetics. It surprises some, I think, because I’m a family doctor and have been practicing for many years.
I love what I do. I’ve always loved the connection with patients, being there for them through all stages of life, and helping them navigate their health with compassion and honesty. Family medicine is deeply human. It’s about listening, understanding, and making people feel better. That part of me hasn’t changed.
But ever since I was very young, I’ve had this pull toward creativity. I take joy in small details that others missed. I was fascinated by how a tiny change could transform something, how light, balance, and proportion mattered. Not just in design, but in people, too.
What pushed me into aesthetics, though, was something very specific.
I started noticing more and more people walking around with what I call the “pillow face” look, overfilled, unnatural, stretched expressions that didn’t reflect who they were.
And I couldn’t help but wonder:
Is this what people think beauty looks like now?
Is this really the goal?
So I began studying.
I took courses.
I mentored under aesthetic physicians I admired.
And I immersed myself in learning everything I could about facial anatomy, balance, and techniques that enhance rather than erase.
That was four years ago. Since then, I’ve integrated aesthetic medicine into my practice, not because I wanted to be part of a trend, but because I believe it’s an extension of what I already do: helping people feel like the best version of themselves.
To be clear, I don’t do aesthetics just for the sake of doing aesthetics.
I turn people away when I feel the treatment won’t serve them.
I will never do a procedure that makes someone look overdone or artificial.
My goal is always the same:
Natural. Subtle. Refreshed.
You should still look like you, just a well-rested, well-lit version of you.
And what I love most?
It’s when my patients tell me no one noticed they had anything done.
They just hear:
“You look amazing. Did you go on vacation?”
That, to me, is success.
